How Long Is It Ok To Not Eat For?

i know people say its nt good for you.. but how long is the max b4 its bad 4 u?

i would say about 3 days is very bad for you

Nope. A full grown adult can go about a month or slightly longer.
You can't survive without water for a week.

Same (well not the holiday bit), but I'm cutting down on a lot of food this summer.. that and food makes me nauseous!

A while ago, I started a Forum Weight Watchers thread, was quite popular but then it fell.

Would you like me to start it again?

Well I have been for almost two weeks without food (reasons being my own) and believe me, it aint good. One or two days, then your energy drops.

Well.. I'm not starving myself. Even though I feel pretty sick after I eat, I eat anyways.. just not as much as before

All I've had today is lunch which was chicken and chips..

Well first of all (I should post this in the Forum Slimmers too) if you feel horrid about yourself when you eat, look at the food you are eating!

Fatty junk foods are obviously going to make you feel bad. They are meant too! Eat healthily! It may make you happier! Not with me, but others maybe!

well, yes I hate food too, and have often cut it out of my life. And it is not the right thing to do, I know that!

And of course, nobody wants to be obese!

TJ, you love food - I can understand. If you want to lose weight, and not cut out foods, there is still a way! Vary what you eat, dont have the same meal twice in one week if it can be helped. And there are certain foods you can eat which will help lose weight, certain ones you can eat and enjoy! I will post more about it in the Forum Slimmers thread.

Lol no, because you don't eat when you sleep :P

Mine had probaly been well.. I dunno a day :S Maybe a bit less than 24 hours

Something I will say straight.

Not eating is not the way to lose weight, as shocking as it may seem (!)

your body goes into a state of shock commonly known as Starvation Mode. it stores body fat and weight is harder to shift!

any advice please as am going to spain then and don't want to look fat like i do now

Well you really cannot lose all that much weight by next week! That's a miracle lol! Well, excersise and try to balance what you eat.

well i once lost a stone in a week, all i did was eat less fatty foods, only drink water and cut down the amount i eat plus doing about 5 hours exercise a day (with breaks)

:lol: Don't worry, I went abroad looking fat! Nothing to worry about!
Although I lost loads of weight in my two weeks of holiday, swimming in the pool literally all day. Not just drifting like a n00b, but proper swimming lengths. And I only ate proper meals, 3 a day, with no snacking at all in-between.

So going on holiday is a good, albeit expensive, way to help lose weight :lol: ;)

Well that's not true. The truth is, it depends on your metabolism, normal eating habits, fitness and willpower.

It's bad behaviour to not eat for a even a day.
You should always try and have three meals a day, and make them healthy!

Also, if you "starve" yourself, when you finally do eat, your body clings to the calories for dear life, and you just end up putting on loads of weight again.

Also, to get scientific on you, huner depends on a chemical in the brain called serotonin. you have two "parts", like two banks of a river, just with nothing in between. On one side, the serotonin gets sent out, and on the other side there are "receptors" to catch it. when it's caught you get the feeling of hunger. basically, starving reduces the amount of serotonin sent out, but increases the number of receptors, so when you start eating again you're a bit in for it really, because you'll be way more hungry!!!

You can go for a long time without eating but your muscles would decompose, your thyroid and pancreas and pituitary gland would stop producing hormones and generally startving yourself would be a bad thing.

But rater than eating a little - eat a lot - like healthy things. No crisps because r sweets of processed cereal because that would raise your blood sugar quickly and make it frop suddenly meaning you would get craving for food. Really you should eat oats for breakfast with blueberries - maybe half a steak on salad for lunch with nuts for pudding and maybe a salad for dinner.
