I find it really really annoying how newspapers and tv programmes just point the finger at youths for things constantly.
Okay i understand that yes maybe some teenagers 'act up' occasionaly and drink or act violent on the street and get caught perhaps by poiice or parents and this makes next days headline news.
But why do they base every SINGLE teenager youth on the ones you see in the media?????
Not all of us go out on the street every single night, smash up houses, take drugs go to house partys and end up in a violet fight.
So why do they assume it??
I personally think it isnt fair.
i was watching GMTV the other morning and a headline was about
police watching 'youths' at nighttime to makesure they are not out drinking. Why should they punish every single teenager when only a couple played up? The presenters of the show were like 'why do youths act like that'.
Well excuse me, but i think you'll find that wasn't me!

Sorry for the rant but it really does get on my nerves!

What does everybody else think?

Youths = panic, (if anybody does media studies - MORAL PANICS)
We just seem to get BAD media. When will something we achieve good get mentioned for a change?

Haha, you know what? I was thinking the exact same thing the other day and I had a real rant on the Playstation Forums about it

There is some sort of image that adults have in their minds that suggests all teenagers and kids go round smoking, drinking, taking drugs, mugging people and having sex, and it really :) me off. I think it is because it is in the media so much that it looks like all teens are like it, I mean, how many murders have there been recently? Loads, and most of them were done by teens, so adults watching automatically think that it is what we're all like

So yeah, I totally agree with you.

: Yeah I know, they blame practically everything on us, and old people in cars and on the street just turn their nose up at us. What the papers have to understand, is that only like less than 0.5% of us are like that, but the newspapers are so politically correct that blaming it on the government, or the people who emmigrate the UK, or general adults can have major complaints and lashback from the public. So, they know that we have no power of complaint whatsoever, so they blame it soley on us.

Stupid newspapers. We're intelligent, most of us have better education than some adults and we are not immigrants, its like they are blaming their own children!

I have nothing against immigrants, however, i do have something against the papers saying that WE are the problem NOT them, even though its VICE VERSA.

I'm in total agreement with you two.

I just get really :) of with it all.
What gives them the right to judge us by one headline? or 1 annoying teen?

Before they 'assume' us, they should do their research.

well thats 90%, theres still 10% ( in your 'theory' ) that still get the blame for doing nothing.

I don't go out and get drunk. Therefore im part of that 10%
